Contra Mestre Cabelo - Bio

Tim Worth has been a dedicated practitioner and ambassador of capoeira since beginning his journey in 2006 in Brasília, Brazil.
He started training with União de Capoeira do Distrito Federal (UCDF) under the guidance of Professor Tarzan, where he immersed himself in the Martial art’s rich traditions, music, and movement.
Upon returning to Aotearoa (New Zealand), Cabelo became one of the pioneering students of Mestre Bira in Capoeira Resistência Wellington, alongside his longtime training partner and friend, Contra Mestre Sinbad, and Professora Bandida.
Together, they helped lay the foundation for the growth of capoeira in the region, fostering a strong community of practitioners.

Cabelo’s passion for capoeira has taken him across the globe. While living abroad, he trained with groups in Spain and Belgium, further deepening his understanding of Capoeira and its diverse styles. He has also participated in capoeira events and workshops in Finland and Ireland, connecting with practitioners worldwide and sharing his knowledge.

In 2024, after years of dedication and contribution to the Capoeira, Cabelo and Sinbad were honoured with the title of Contra Mestre by Mestre Bira, a testament to their skill, leadership, and commitment to Capoeira.

Cabelo and Sinbad share a long and intertwined history in capoeira, having trained side by side for many years under Mestre Bira’s guidance. Their partnership has been essential in the growth of Capoeira Resistência in Wellington, where they worked tirelessly to teach, inspire, and build a vibrant Capoeira community.

Today, Cabelo represents Capoeira Resistência in Ireland, where he lives with his partner.
He continues to teach, train, and share the art of capoeira, carrying forward the legacy of his mentors and contributing to the global capoeira community. His journey reflects his personal dedication and the enduring bonds and shared history that capoeira creates among its practitioners.
